Who is Takeoff?

It’s just been announced that 28-year-old Takeoff, the third member of Migos, died today.

A respected rapper, he helped make famous hits such as Versace and Bad and Boujee alongside his two famous associates, Quavo and Offset.

The shooting happened on Monday night at 11:40 p.m. local time when his car was stopped by a red light at the intersection of Bissonnet and Wilcrest Drive in southwest Houston, Texas.

Takeoff had been sitting in the back seat with his two nephews when he was shot before crashing into a nearby car. One of the nephews who survived told police that they heard five gunshots while the other said they only heard three.

Takeoff’s head was kind of like out the window, so we couldn’t see him, one nephew told KHOU. We just seen blood dripping.

That’s all I seen. We didn’t see no body or anything because it was dark outside. While investigators haven’t found any leads yet, the killing is believed to be drug related and officials have recovered over 20 shell casings from the scene.

Takeoff’s death marks the second among Migos in less than a year, after founding member Kevin DJ Kool Lee died following an asthma attack last July.

Who are his bandmates?

Quavo, who is Takeoff’s cousin and Quavo’s real name is Quavious Keyate Marshall. Offset is also a cousin of Quavo and his real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus.

Migos’ third member Takeoff, alongside the other two rappers Quavo and Offset, has died at the age of 28.

One of the Migos’ greatest hits is their Versace collaboration. Migos released their debut album Yung Rich Nation with Quality Control Music on June 16th 2017. They are best know for their hit single ‘Bad and Boujee’ which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Takeoff had been detained by police before being shot dead in Northside Drive, Houston late Wednesday evening.

He had been found inside a vehicle that crashed into an apartment complex in Northside Drive near Rankin Street when he was killed by two gunmen according to local media reports.

As the three were speaking, two men wearing hoodies exited the car, approached Takeoff, and the one on the left produced a firearm, shooting him in the head.

A spokesperson for the HPD said: Hearing something like this happen right after you leave someone’s house is heartbreaking.

Tributes have already started pouring in from other artists including J Balvin, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Chance The Rapper and Kanye West while hip hop mogul DJ Khaled tweeted: RIP TO MY BROTHER I LOVE YOU MAN THIS IS SOME SAD NEWS SO GUTTED YOU WERE ONE OF THE GREATEST IN OUR CITY BROTHER WE GO WAY BACK KEEP ON RESTING IN PEACE.

In recent weeks Takeoff has expressed anger towards his bandmates. Earlier this week he posted a photo of himself with Quavo on Instagram captioned lost my brother today but i’ll always remember what we went thru. The post received thousands of likes and comments from fans expressing sadness over the loss.

It is still unclear whether or not there will be any repercussions to both Migos members following Takeoff’s death as some people suspect foul play but so far neither artist has spoken about it.
